About this place
Located on the first basement floor of the New Shimbashi Building, Peace Sakaba Hinoki is a counter-led izakaya shaped by the warm tones of natural hinoki cypress. Specializing in homemade small dishes paired with drinks, it provides a relaxed atmosphere that suits a quiet solo drink just as neatly as a casual stop along an evening pub crawl through Shimbashi.
The centerpiece of the food menu is the house-specialty fried chicken (karaage), conveniently ordered from as few as 1 piece. This flexibility allows diners to enjoy fried and griddled dishes at whatever pace suits their appetite. For a lighter accompaniment, the fluffy rolled omelet (dashimaki tamago) rich with savory dashi broth and the freshly pounded mountain yam (tataki yamaimo), prepared to order, make satisfying choices.
Beyond the standard selections, the daily off-menu offerings listed on the whiteboard are equally compelling. Options range from drinking snacks like simmered komatsuna greens and seared pickled mackerel sashimi to bean-sprout tonpeiyaki and even fuller meal options like gapao rice and Thai-style green curry, giving patrons an adaptable spread tailored to the evening's cravings.
The drinks menu covers staples such as Kakubin highballs, draft beer, shochu, and sake, along with fresh-squeezed lemon sours and playfully named house concoctions like the Oppai & Oshiri Bijin sour. Open on weekdays from late afternoon until 22:30 and accepting reservations, the izakaya is a dependable subterranean haven for winding down right by the station.
